East Prairie Community,
Below you will find some of the changes and clarification about registration and proof of residency for the 2015-2016 school year. We understand that these procedures may be new for some people, and we are happy to help you in any way we can. If you have questions, please contact Ms. Franco in the main office.

Registration for the 2015-2016 school year is on Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 9:00am-2:30pm.
There are some CHANGES for registration that ALL families need to be aware of:

1. All registration materials and proof of residency need to all be turned in and approved at one time. The school office will not hold onto pending/incomplete paperwork.

2. Please see the revised chart for Proof of Residency. You must bring the documents listed on the chart.

East Prairie School is beginning the Strategic Planning Process. A Strategic Plan provides direction and guidance to our school community. The current Strategic Plan expires at the end of this school year. To accomplish such a new plan, we are requesting your input. Parent involvement is a critical part of the process and we ask that you consider becoming part of this activity. In order to participate, we ask that you attend one meeting and work with a focus group to answer and prioritize the following questions:

Illinois 5-Essentials Survey Open

Beginning January 12, teachers, parents, and students across Illinois will have an opportunity to participate in the third annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This survey is designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of your child's school. As a parent, this opportunity will allow you to share your thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness in a survey about your child's school.

On behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education, the Illinois 5Essentials Survey will be administered online by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago. The survey gathers data related to five indicators that can predict important student outcomes, including improved attendance and larger test score gains. Online Registration Features Within Powerschool

Registration for the 2015-2016 School year is opening tomorrow! Just like in years past, this can be done in Powerschool Parent Portal, in which you have the ability to double check the majority of the student enrollment, and registration information online. Now, by using the Powerschool Parent Portal, you will have the ability to review all of the current registration information that we have on file for your child(ren).

Some of the items that you will need to double check with our online demographics page, will include phone numbers, addresses, birthplace, birth certificate numbers, all of the child's mothers and fathers demographic information including work, home, and cell phone numbers. Powerschool Parent Sign On Process

The Single Sign On or SSO, enables parents to create their own PowerSchool account, choosing the username and password they wish to use, and then assign each of their children to their own account. This will allow the Parents to keep track of all grades for all of the children in their family, with out having to login separately.

Enabling this feature will require that all parent/guardians to create a new account to access to PowerSchool

Before you begin, make sure you have received your confidential parent/guardian access ID and password assigned to you for each of your children. This was issued by the school. Snapshots of a Very Busy School Library

The Illinois School Library Media Association (ISLMA) gives the Bluestem Award and the Monarch Award to the authors whose books receive the most votes from children throughout Illinois Students in grades Kindergarten through 3rd grades take their voting very seriously for the Monarch Awards and intermediate students grades 3-5 mark their choice for the Bluestem award.

Look What’s New

January 5th, 2012

The final shelving units for our School Library were installed over Winter Break. Jerry McDonald and his crew deserve a big thank you! These shelves give us more room for the heavy picture books as well as much need out-of-sight storage. The number of books checked out has increase by 4000 items from 2 years ago. The number of items in active circulation is now up to 19,000. We have increased our collections numbers through the following avenues.
