EPS Preschool Registration

January 12th, 2015

Come register your child for the 2015-2016 school year!
Where: East Prairie School 3907 W. Dobson
When: Thursday, January 22nd 7:00pm-8:00pm
Children must be 3 years old by September 1st. Please bring your child's birth certificate and a non-refundable $200 deposit to secure your child's placement. East Prairie Preschool is also open to children who do not live in District 73.

EPS Winter Musical Set For January 16th 7:00PM

January 8th, 2015

Our Winter musical, Alice in Wonderland, will be performed for the student body on Friday morning and for the public at East Prairie School on Friday, January 16th at 7:00 p.m. in the gymnasium. Tickets for Friday evening are $3.00 and can be purchased at the door. Please join us and enjoy the wonderful talents of our Middle School students!

Parking & Traffic at East Prairie School

November 20th, 2014

Keeping our children safe is our number one priority. In order to do this, we need to work together to keep the flow of traffic moving and watch out for pedestrians. Please help us by adhering to the following procedures:

Do not Double Park on Dobson Street. Buses and emergency vehicles need to be able to get down the street at all times.

Children should not be let out in the middle of the street. Doing so in the state of Illinois could earn you a ticket (it's against the law) and create a safety hazard for your child.

Do not park in the bus lanes. We have buses in the morning and the afternoon. Buses need to be able to get down Dobson Street and park in front of the school. The bus lanes are the yellow painted curbs on Dobson. Do not park in these areas. On early dismissal days, we have four buses ...

Beginning January 12, teachers, parents, and students across Illinois will have an opportunity to participate in the third annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This survey is designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of your child's school. As a parent, this opportunity will allow you to share your thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness in a survey about your child's school.

On behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education, the Illinois 5Essentials Survey will be administered online by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago. The survey gathers data related to five indicators that can predict important student outcomes, including improved attendance and larger test score gains. Emergency Closing Information

Dear All,

It's that time of year when all of us are anticipating the change of the seasons. With that in mind, I wanted to write you a note regarding emergency procedures in the event that we can't have school because of weather.

In most cases, East Prairie School will be open. In years past, we have not used many snow days - last year we didn't use any! Regardless, we must be prepared! In the event that the weather is such that our buses cannot run and/or it would be dangerous to have children, parents, and staff members on the road we will cancel school.

Updating Contact Preferences in Powerschool

January 12th, 2015

There are many ways in which EPS will communicate with you during the year. To help us make sure that we can contact you at the right phone number, email address, and now at a text number in case of emergency, please sign into your Powerschool Parent Portal (http://epsd73.powerschool.com) and update your personnel information. This will need to be done for each of your children that attends school at East Prairie.

In the Powerschool Parent Portal, click on the link entitled “Power Announcement.”

After that page has loaded, click the option entitled “Expand All.”

On this screen you will find all of the current demographic information that we have on file. If there are any changes, please be sure to update them click Save Preferences.

Online Registration Features Within Powerschool

Registration for the 2014-2015 School year is now open. Just like in years past, this can be done in Powerschool Parent Portal, in which you have the ability to double check the majority of the student enrollment, and registration information online. Now, by using the Powerschool Parent Portal, you will have the ability to review all of the current registration information that we have on file for your child(ren).

Some of the items that you will need to double check with our online demographics page, will include phone numbers, addresses, birthplace, birth certificate numbers, all of the child's mothers and fathers demographic information including work, home, and cell phone numbers. Snapshots of a Very Busy School Library

The Illinois School Library Media Association (ISLMA) gives the Bluestem Award and the Monarch Award to the authors whose books receive the most votes from children throughout Illinois Students in grades Kindergarten through 3rd grades take their voting very seriously for the Monarch Awards and intermediate students grades 3-5 mark their choice for the Bluestem award.

Look What’s New

The final shelving units for our School Library were installed over Winter Break. Jerry McDonald and his crew deserve a big thank you! These shelves give us more room for the heavy picture books as well as much need out-of-sight storage. The number of books checked out has increase by 4000 items from 2 years ago. The number of items in active circulation is now up to 19,000. We have increased our collections numbers through the following avenues.
